I was born in a polygamous family and was well cared for until my mother fell ill and lost her business. My father stopped paying my school fees, calling my mother and myself a burden. So I left home for Lagos in search of a job so I could save some money and go to school. Time went by and no job was coming so when a friend of mine pressured me, I started following her to clubs. Eventually she convinced me to sleep with the men we met and that’s how I began to sell my body for N10,000 a night.
Every night I cried to God to send a helper; I wanted more than the life I was living. Somehow my story got to the cook at the hotel I was staying. She introduced me to God Bless Nigeria Church and they later referred me to Genesis House.
I went through the rehabilitation program, and they supported me and helped me return to school. I went ahead to write WAEC and JAMB, and now I have graduated from the University of Calabar.
Faith is one of the numerous women who were pressured into sexual exploitation in their search for a better life. At Genesis House, our mission is to rehabilitate young women, empower them to escape the trap of sexual exploitation and poverty to release their dreams.
