Being young comes with a lot of challenges: figuring out who you are, making decisions about your future, dealing with pressure, and finding your place in a world that may sometimes feel hellbent on bringing you down. It comes with moments of vulnerability, uncertainty, and dependence on the adults and people around you, and sometimes, these can lead you down dark paths, paths you may not know how to navigate on your own.
From drug abuse to sexual exploitation and abuse, young people can find themselves facing realities that are difficult to talk about, let alone navigate. This UN National Youth Day, Freedom Foundation, together with her expressions, Genesis House, and House of Refuge are creating a space for an honest conversation about these issues, the realities behind them, and what we can do to prevent young people from having to face them alone.
